Course Length: 2 days (9 hours) 

Course Purpose:

This workshop is designed to teach students (operations personnel) a 3-step method for troubleshooting and determining root cause of a process upset.  This method is based on the logic or predictability designed into the system. K&S ensures that students understand the function of the various processes and the associated factors that must be controlled to achieve the function of the equipment.  Emphasis is also placed on the necessity of selecting appropriate (safe & economical) corrective action plans that return the process to normal without creating additional problems. Pro-active monitoring and control of the process is also stressed as a way to recognize abnormal early on and prevent loosing control of the process.  Operator confidence and workplace moral are positively impacted as a result of the training!

Enhanced Refresher Training Course

Course Length: 1 day (8 -10 hours)

Course Purpose: 

This workshop is designed to provide students that have completed the full workshop with a review of the 3-step method for troubleshooting and determining root cause of a process upset.  Many of the same fundamental elements of the full workshop are repeated but emphasis is placed on additional problem solving practice and use of our Logic Path method of interpretation.  The real bonus of the refresher training course is that we can customize some of the content to include one or two pieces of equipment from your site to further integrate the K&S methodology into the culture of your facility.  Pro-active monitoring and control of the process is again stressed as a way to recognize abnormal early on and prevent loosing control of the process.

Course Purpose:

This workshop is designed to provide Engineering Professionals with a 3-step method for troubleshooting and determining root cause of a process upset.  This one day course is intense and focused specifically on the needs of a process engineer that needs a practical thought process to support the front line staff.  The K&S method is based on the logic or predictability designed into the system and supports foundational principals taught in college level courses but provides a true hands on experience.  We ensure the physics of the process are clearly related to the equipment function reinforcing key process controls used to predict, prevent or solve process problems.  There is no reactive guesswork, just sound scientific analysis that works on any process equipment.  

Emphasis is also placed on the necessity of selecting appropriate (safe & economical) corrective action plans that return the process to normal without creating additional problems. This workshop is specifically designed to teach Operations Personnel to apply the K&S 3-step methodology for troubleshooting and determining root cause of an upset to their specific process.  This training will enhance the employees’ understanding of the logic of their specific process, giving them the ability to use multiple data points to evaluate the accuracy of control data.  The function of each piece of equipment associated with your specific process is discussed and the control factors for each are identified.    Practical application of the K&S 3-Step troubleshooting method is accomplished by using unit specific problem scenarios ranging from simple to very complex.  Specific emphasis is also placed on developing appropriate (safe & economical) corrective action plans that return your process to normal without creating additional problems.  Pro-active monitoring and control of your process is also stressed as a way to recognize abnormal conditions early on and prevent loosing control of the process.  Your operations personnel are more confident and workplace moral is positively impacted as a result of the training.
